Reset Ministries - Program Overview

Reset is a comprehensive, faith-based recovery program that helps individuals overcome addiction and rebuild their lives through a structured, community-centered approach in a dignified housing environment. The process begins with a requirement of 30 days of sobriety before entry, during which Reset can provide recommendations for detox programs. Applicants undergo a pre-screening interview where they discuss their faith background, addiction history, current medications, and any unresolved legal issues. The program is explicitly faith-based, requiring engagement in church activities and spiritual development, although being a follower of Jesus Christ is not mandatory.

Once accepted, residents are welcomed into one of Reset’s three houses—one for women and two for men, with a combined capacity of 35+ residents. Orientation covers program policies, including curfews, mandatory drug testing, room inspections, and rules prohibiting drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or violence. New residents are supported by a “Jumpstart Team” that helps them settle in, securing essentials like IDs, Social Security cards, and clothing, ensuring they can focus on personal growth within the first 30 days.

The program emphasizes a balanced daily routine, referred to as “Rhythms,” which includes attending church services, weekly Discipleship Nights, two recovery meetings, personal development classes, and house meetings. Residents also meet regularly with discipleship coaches and staff to track their progress and set goals. The program’s core process revolves around six essential areas:

  1. Authentic Community: Residents are encouraged to integrate into a church community, serving and building meaningful relationships to support long-term sobriety.

  2. Discipleship: The primary focus is spiritual growth through following Jesus’ teachings, practicing spiritual disciplines like prayer and scripture study, and eventually discipling others.

  3. Sobriety: Maintaining sobriety is foundational, requiring participation in recovery meetings, working with a sponsor, and committing to a support group.

  4. Stewardship: Residents must find employment within two weeks, pay rent, and save money, learning financial management and time management skills.

  5. Relational Health: The program promotes healing from toxic relationships, setting healthy boundaries, and restoring family connections.

  6. Physical and Mental Health: New habits for physical fitness, nutrition, self-care, and healthy living are developed to support recovery.

Accountability is integral, with bi-weekly check-ins assessing residents’ progress across the six essentials. Staff and discipleship coaches coordinate efforts to address areas where residents may struggle, offering targeted support from specialists in fields like financial planning, mental health, or spiritual counseling. The role of Discipleship Coaches is likened to primary care physicians, guiding residents holistically and connecting them with specialists for more specific needs.

Celebrations are woven throughout the journey, including quarterly worship nights (K-Night), program promotions, and social events that provide fun, sober experiences. Leading up to graduation, the “Exodus Team” helps residents prepare for life post-program by securing housing, furniture, and other practical needs.

Ultimately, Reset’s post-program goal is for residents to continue their spiritual growth and live missionally, sharing their transformation with others while practicing daily disciplines that reinforce their new life, free from addiction. The program seeks to empower residents to not only continue lifelong sobriety, but to thrive as disciples of Jesus, helping others find freedom from life controlling issues and hopelessness.
