Substance Abuse Treatment in Cincinnati, OH

We all make mistakes; it’s part of being human.  If you are not making them then maybe you are too much of a perfectionist or not taking risks.  We learn more from our mistakes than our successes.  I’m not saying to make mistakes deliberately, but that enough of them happen anyway.  Choose to grow from them.

We make mistakes in words we choose when we realize they hurt someone.  We make them in decisions to move a project idea ahead.  Mistakes in judgment.  Mistakes in deeds.

What are your beliefs about mistakes?  Do you believe that they should be avoided at all costs?  Can you see that your beliefs might be limiting your potential?  It is normal to feel a strong emotion with a mistake…but don’t let that control you.  Learn from mistakes.  Own them.  Celebrate mistakes because they are an input to personal growth, even if painful.  Then move on.

It has been said, “don’t make the same mistake twice.”  If we take away a lesson from a mistake, we grow.  We incorporate the feelings and insights into a being a better person.  Take the time to discover the insight that caused the error.  Try to get to the root cause and then put a personal system in place to avoid it in the future.

Eleanor Roosevelt said:  “Learn from the mistakes of others.  You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself”.
